Six JAG Students went to State Contest on April 7th and 8th and represented Skyline as they met State Representative Jeff Knight, State Senator Sandy Crawford and other members of congress. They also enjoyed motivational speakers, career fairs and contests. These students did such a great job. They represented Skyline well and brought home some hardware. We had 4 of the 6 that went qualify for nationals. Elaina Edge placed 3rd in Poetry/Spoken Word, Knowledge Bowl placed 2nd after several hours of competition( team of Samuel Schultz, Austin Grandi, Elaina Edge and Isabella Crawford) and Austin Grandi also placed 1st in Financial Literacy. The Knowledge Bowl team will get the chance to represent Missouri at Nationals the last week of April. If you see them tell them congratulations!

Dr. Reed Wouters was honored by the Skyline school district for his many years of service to the school district and community on Monday, February 3rd immediately preceding the varsity boys’ basketball game vs Miller High School. Dr. Wouters served as a board of education member at Skyline for sixteen years. In addition to his service on the school board, Wouters gave of his time and talents in many other ways to assist Skyline’s athletic programs. Dr. Wouters provided low-cost sports physicals to Skyline athletes for many years, almost always using his day off from the clinic to perform those physicals. Wouters was also a regular on the sideline at Skyline varsity football games for many years, attending to the injury needs of players from Skyline and from many visiting schools. The main emphasis of the presentation was focused on how Dr. Wouters served as an “on-call physician” to Skyline athletes throughout the years, evaluating and treating athletic injuries whenever needed, often outside of office hours and even late into the evening at times. Dr. Wouters was presented with a plaque by Skyline athletic director Jim Brown in appreciation of his above-and-beyond service to the school district and its athletes. It read, in part, “The Skyline school district is so very grateful to you for your many years of service as a board of education member and, most of all, as the “resident physician” for our Skyline athletes. Words cannot adequately express our appreciation for the hours spent on the sidelines with our football athletes, providing athletic physicals, and evaluating and treating all of our athletes following various types of injuries, sometimes late into the evening hours. Thank you, Doc!
